This is copied from MY FaceBook where I posted this story as a note-
I have been a customer of Alltel since May 2008. I never had one problem with Alltel, the customer service was great, as well as the service. When we were briefly notified of the buy-out, I thought nothing of it. My service would be the same right?
In June 2009, I received my first bill from the Verizon office. That bill was $220, I called and argued it out. They claimed it was from texting/internet/non mobile numbers I called. This was all wrong, I had the unlimited data package, and my call record was not over my 500 anytime minutes. As a responsible customer, I paid my normal rate of $70 anyway, even though the bill was over charged.
July, I had the same problem, the finance charges kept adding up. August, my bill had accumulated to $860. Each time I called customer service, or went to the Verizon store I was told they were looking into it. Why waws my phone service disconnected?
Now September I was still getting harrassed by Verizon saying my accunt was passed due. I have talked with many reps/supervisors. This time I decided to get something done, I was going to protest. I then took some plywood, spray paint, and created a sign
"HONK, if verizon screwed u over" I place this sign in front of the Verizon store, little after 7pm on a Monday- 9-21-09. I got alot of attention. The verizon store managers came out, looked at the sign. One manager attempted to take my sign down. I told him to leave it alone. I was on public domain, I had every right to be there in civil protest. They threatened to call the police. I stood my ground. The manager then later came out and we discussed all my Verizon problems. The Manager went inside the store to look up my account, he then came back outside, and had adjusted my account to its proper amount. He then went inside to reconnect my phone service, in the meantime I decided to take the sign down since they were trying to cooperate. Fair enough I think.
* I had a lot of comments on Facebook. People here are always talking about my Verizon Protest. Not a day goes by it seems.
SouthSideCentral News Blog covered the story as well.
